The journal publishes original research in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics and education sciences, exploring multilingualism at the intersection of macro-level language policies, maintenance of linguistic rights, language ecology, preservation of minority and less widely taught languages, with the micro-level practices in plurilingual didactics, linguistically sensitive teaching and mediation as well as the acquisition and development of plurilingual competence. ...

Publication history
The Journal was established by Vytautas Magnus University science cluster “Research in Plurilingual Competence Development” H-08-09 in 2012.
In 2012-2018, both print (ISSN 2335-2019) and online (ISSN 2335-2027) versions were published. Since 2019, the journal has been published only electronically.
In 2017-2019, the journal was published in cooperation with De Gruyter , in 2019-2025 with Sciendo, and since 2025, with Paradigm.
