Aims and scope

Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg: Journal of Viticulture, Oenology, Pomology and Fruit Processing is an international journal which aims to further develop viticulture and fruit growing as well as oenology and fruit processing and to advance the implementation of new strategies in practice.

Mitteilungen Klosterneuburg publishes high quality original scientific papers, short communications, reviews and surveys on all aspects of viticulture, enology, pomology and fruit processing as well as enological chemistry, microbiology, hygiene and quality management of wine and fruit, addressed to international readers. Review articles can be submitted by arrangement.

Sustainable and economically viable production and processing of grapevines and fruits requires a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of:

  • Plant physiology and requirements for good and productive plant growth
  • Interactions between plant, soil and climatic conditions
  • Interaction between plants, pathogens, pests and weeds
  • Sustainable plant protection
  • Organic viticulture and pomology
  • Vine and fruit species genetics
  • The impact of climate change on viticulture and pomology,
  • Techniques and methods of harvesting and processing grapevines and fruits
  • Wine and fruit chemistry and microbiology
  • Smart technologies and innovations in vineyards and fruit orchards as well as in oenology and fruit processing
  • Organoleptic characterization on wine and fruit products
  • Health related and quality relevant aspects of wine, fruits and fruit products.
  • Economic aspects in winemaking and fruit production and processing
  • Consumer expectations

Research addressing one or several of the previous issues will be of prime interest to the journal.
