Title page: The paper title should be given in English and in German. It should be short and intelligible. Please try to avoid subtitles. The title has to be presented on a separate title page which also must include the full name(s) of the author(s), their academic title(s), affiliations and addresses and the e-mail address of the corresponding author. This information will be not available to referees.

Manuscript layout: The manuscript should be written in MS Word in English or German. Include the title in both languages at the beginning of the manuscript but do not give information of the authors (names and affiliations). Manuscripts should be as short as possible (not longer than 15 pages typewritten, 1.5 line spacing). Please number consecutively each line of the whole manuscript and structure your text using decimal classification (1., 1.1, 1.2, ... , 2., 2.1, 2.2, ...). Use the International System of Units (SI) for expressing units and italics for all Latin (scientific) names.

Summary: The summary should not at all be a mere description but should highlight the essential facts of a scientific paper including an outline of the objective, methods, results and conclusions. The maximum number of word in the summary is two hundred. The summary must be given in both languages (German: Zusammenfassung).

Keywords: Five keywords should not overlap with the manuscript title. Give the keywords in both languages (German: Schlagwörter).

Introduction: An overview of the contemporary knowledge of the investigated subject using up to date scientific literature should be followed by the main reasons why the research was performed.

Material and methods: Full details of the experimental procedures and statistical methods (including the software used) should be presented. The analytical methodology should be described fully just in case that they are original. Otherwise, it is sufficient to cite the author of the method and to mention any particular differences.

Results and discussion: Both can be either presented in one chapter or in two separate chapters.

Conclusion: The major findings should be summarized and highlighted.

Tables: MS Word editor should be used to create tables. The table description must be provided in the file. Use for the table description the words “Table” and “Tabelle”. Use also the full word (“Table” or “Tabelle”) for referencing within the manuscript.

Graphs: All graphics should be delivered as separate graphic/image files. Following formats will be accepted: JPG, TIFF or GIF. It is advised to deliver vector file formats such as EPS. Use for graphic files a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Use for the graph description the words “Figure” and “Abbildung”. Use also the full word (“Figure” or “Abbildung”) for referencing within the manuscript.

Citations and References

Citations in text: Citations should be made by including the author(s) name(s) into the text, either directly [(Lair, 2008)] or indirectly [(Lair et al., 2008), (Lair and Gerzabek et al., 2008)].

References: At the end of the paper, there should be a reference list in alphabetical order according to the following style:

1) For books or parts of them: Author (Year): Title. In: Editor: Title. Edition, Publisher, Place of publication, beginning and ending pages.

Example:

Blum, W.E.H., Friesl, W., Gerzabek, M.H. and W.W. Wenzel (2003): Pollution by industrial waste. In: Lal, R. (Ed.): Encyclopedia in Soil Science, Marcel Dekker, New York, 1–3.

2) For periodicals: Author (Year): Title. Journal. Volume, beginning and ending pages.

Example:

Lair, G.J., Graf, M., Zehetner, F. and M.H. Gerzabek (2008): Distribution of cadmium among geochemical fractions in floodplain soils of progressing development. Environmental Pollution 156, 207–214.
