Aims and scope
The journal “Die Bodenkultur: Journal of Land Management, Food and Environment” is an interdisciplinary forum dedicated to all aspects of research in the rural area. The aim is to provide an international outlet for new results in all disciplines of land management, food, environment and related sciences.
It is jointly published by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) and the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES). The journal publishes in an open access model since 2016. The publishing framework has changed from quarterly publishing to a continuous publication model in 2026.
The journal publishes research papers and non-research papers such as obituaries, book reviews, and editorial notes.
The journal aims to:
- keeps its readers up-to-date with the latest scientific research results,
- provides an interdisciplinary perspective on current developments in rural areas on a regional, international and global scale,
- publishes original research work subject to anonymous review by two referees,
- publishes accepted manuscripts promptly.
Audience: "Die Bodenkultur: Journal for Land Management, Food and Environment" is aimed at:
- scientists involved in research and/or teaching,
- leading experts and decision makers in industry and politics,
- top consultants, training and advisory staff,
