Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Annals of Animal Science (AAS) journal is committed to maintaining the high standards of publication ethics and ensuring the integrity of scientific research. Our ethical principles follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics and best international practices for scholarly publishing.

AAS journal publishes original and review papers in the area of all topics of animal science and veterinary. All experiments with animal desribed in papers published in AAS journal have do be been conducted in accordance with relevant national legislation on the use of animals or of humans for research.

Editorial Ethics

The editorial board of AAS evaluates submitted articles impartially in terms of their scientific value and originality, relevance to the journal scope, clarity and methodological rigor, ethical integrity, regardless of the authors race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

The editorial board complies with the current legal framework regarding copyright, plagiarism, and other intellectual property rights. It is responsible for decisions concerning the publication of articles.

The editorial board strives to eliminate cases of plagiarism, guest authorship, and ghostwriting. To prevent ghostwriting and guest authorship, the board requires authors to disclose the names of all contributors, along with their affiliations and information about their significant contribution to the work. Ghostwriting, guest authorship, and plagiarism are manifestations of scientific misconduct. Any detected cases will result in the rejection of the manuscript and will be disclosed, including notifying the relevant entities (authors’ institutions, scientific societies, editors’ associations). In cases of self-plagiarism, the manuscript will also be rejected.

The editorial board ensures that the review process is impartial and fair; each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the field and affiliated with an institution different from that of the author. A manuscript positively reviewed by the reviewers is directed for publication. The editorial board ensures that reviewers and authors do not know each other’s identities (double-blind peer review).

Editors ensure that conflicts of interest and biases are avoided. The editor protects the confidentiality of all materials submitted to the journal unless otherwise agreed with the relevant authors and reviewers.

Unpublished materials from rejected manuscripts are not used by the editorial board in any way.

Authors’ Ethics

Authors should provide an accurate description of the work performed and an objective discussion of the research. The article should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the study.

Authors must submit entirely original works, and where studies/theses of others are used, they must be properly cited and referenced. Where necessary, authors must obtain appropriate permissions. Oral communications, correspondence, and private conversations – if used as sources – must also be acknowledged. Plagiarism in all forms, including paraphrasing without proper citation, is unacceptable.

Authors must not submit the same article or results of the same research simultaneously to multiple journals, as this is unethical.

All individuals who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the submitted study should be listed as co-authors. Individuals who contributed significantly but are not listed as co-authors should be acknowledged.

All co-authors should be familiar with the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.

Authors should carefully consider the list and order of authors before submitting the manuscript and provide the final author list at the time of original submission. Only in exceptional circumstances will the editorial board consider (at its discretion) adding, removing, or changing authors after submission, and the author must clearly request such a change.

Where necessary, authors must hold the appropriate Ethics Committee approvals for conducting the research. Authors who discover an error in a published work must immediately notify the editorial board.

Corrections and Retractions After Publication

AAS journal allows for corrections and errata of already published articles. The journal maintains a clear policy for issuing errata and corrections.

The editorial team makes changes to a published article only in serious cases. An article may, in exceptional circumstances, be retracted, in accordance with COPE guidelines. Every modification is marked, and previous versions of the article will remain accessible to readers through a version history or reference links, ensuring clarity, completeness, and transparency of scientific material.
