Abstract

This paper presents a proposal for the preparation of translators of non-literary texts that takes into account changes driven by globalization, labour markets, and developments in IT and AI. These changes, in turn, alter the translator’s role, competences, and skills. The model develops interpersonal and transversal competences, the use of various CAT tools and localization techniques for translating non-literary texts. It also supports the development of intercultural competence, which is essential for translators in today’s globalized world. Finally, it points to a balanced relationship between the translator as a human being and AI. The model is a balance between curriculum content and organization on the one hand, and other players in the translation market on the other.
