Abstract

The contribution aims to point out the allographic translation activity that accompanied, from the very beginning, the creative work of the founder of futurism, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, who was also a fine writer of French symbolism, a translingual author, a self-translator and a cultural mediator. We will begin by presenting accomplished Symbolist and Futurist translations into French and Italian, and we will also consider unfinished projects. We will later focus on the hitherto unexplored French versions of two poems by the Neapolitan Futurist Francesco Cangiullo to document a (re)creative and organic translating practice.
