Self-translation and/or Rewriting. The translingual journey of Alba de Céspedes, from Sans autre lieu que la nuit to Nel buio della notte
By: Silvia Fedele

Abstract
De Céspedes’ work is characterized by a complex linguistic mosaic, culminating in the last twenty years with the experimental novel Sans autre lieu que la nuit, influenced by 1970s Italian narrative and set in Paris. The novel’s French, rich in various registers, required extensive adaptation for the Italian translation Nel buio della notte. The article analyses the translation strategies and narrative devices used to adapt the novel to Italian culture, highlighting the differences between the two works.
