Study on Performance of CFRP–steel Plate Shear Walls with Slits

Open Access

Abstract

The slit steel plate shear wall (SSPSW) exhibits good performance in resisting seismic loads. It can be arranged within walls that incorporate windows, making it a favoured structure. In this study, carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) was employed to retrofit the existing slit steel plate shear wall. CFRP was utilized to improve the shear resistance and the out-of-plane stiffness. The results showed that the global shear buckling and the lateral-torsional buckling were effectively constrained. The critical buckling load of the flexural link exhibited a substantial increase of 151.4%. The application of CFRP proves to be a promising approach for strengthening technique.
