Understanding plant senescence: Focusing on its historical context and actual phenomena
By: Junichi Ueda and Marian Saniewski
Abstract
This review elucidates how plant senescence is induced by changes in environmental factors, focusing on key chemical compounds such as plant hormones. In addition to clarifying the physiological mechanisms of senescence, it provides an overview of the research history in this field. Furthermore, the paper discusses the potential applications of senescence control technologies in agriculture.
