Abstract
This study examines migration as a key factor influencing the demographic security and national resilience of the Republic of Bulgaria. The research explores migration processes in both their internal and international dimensions, together with the principal theoretical approaches explaining migration dynamics and their demographic implications. Particular attention is paid to the risks associated with population decline, labor shortages, population aging, and regional demographic disparities, as well as to the potential of migration to serve as a strategic resource for sustainable national development. The study applies a qualitative and comparative analytical approach based on statistical, documentary, and policy data for the period 2019-2024. Based on the conducted analysis and selected international experience, conclusions and recommendations are formulated for the development of an integrated migration policy aligned with Bulgaria’s demographic and national security priorities.
