The Use of Social Networks in Epidemic Modeling Cover

Abstract

Mathematical modeling used in epidemiology enables infection scenarios in given populations to be partially predicted. The data obtained from such simulations, based on these models, not only permit the possible course of events to observed, but also allow an understanding of the complex dynamics of the epidemic. Understanding the threat, allows in-place mitigation strategies to be systematically evaluated such as quarantine, drug distribution, screening and vaccination.
