Announcements

Call for papers - June 2026 (submission deadline: October 30, 2026)

International Journal of Management and Economics invites submissions for a thematic issue on
Circular Economy and Circular Business: Management, Strategy and Economic Perspectives.

Theme of the issue

The transition toward a circular economy is reshaping how firms, industries and economies create, deliver and capture value. Circular economy principles increasingly influence business strategy, innovation, supply chains, consumption models, industrial transformation and public policy.

At the same time, many organizations still implement circular practices in fragmented, operational or pilot-based forms rather than as systemic business transformation. Firms face managerial, organizational, technological, financial and institutional barriers when attempting to scale circular initiatives.

This thematic issue seeks to advance scholarly understanding of circular economy and circular business from management, strategy and economic perspectives. It is particularly interested in contributions linking circularity with business strategy, firm competitiveness, innovation, supply chains, industrial transformation, public policy and broader economic change.

The issue also envisages the publication of one high-quality review article on circular economy, offering a rigorous synthesis of the field, identifying key research gaps and proposing a future research agenda for management, strategy and economics.

Suggested topics

We invite submissions addressing, but not limited to:

  • circular business models and business model innovation;
  • strategic management for circular transformation;
  • circular economy and firm competitiveness;
  • circular supply chains and reverse logistics;
  • repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and reuse systems;
  • digital technologies supporting circularity, including AI, IoT, blockchain, digital product passports and big data;
  • public policy, governance and regulation for circular economy;
  • industrial symbiosis and inter-organizational collaboration;
  • circular economy in SMEs, family businesses and emerging markets;
  • social dimensions and just transition aspects of circular economy;
  • critical perspectives on circular economy and its limitations;
  • measurement, indicators and assessment of circular performance.

Types of contributions

The thematic issue welcomes theoretical, empirical, methodological and review papers using quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, comparative, case study, bibliometric or systematic review approaches.

Submissions should offer a clear contribution to management, economics, business strategy or organizational transformation. Papers with strong theoretical contributions, robust empirical evidence, international relevance, or clear policy and managerial implications are particularly encouraged.
