The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Fostering Creativity: Perspectives from Pre-service Teachers
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly transforming educational practices and creating new opportunities for fostering creativity. This study explores how creativity is fostered through the use of AI in teacher education from the perspectives of pre-service teachers. A qualitative approach based on focus group discussions was used. The findings indicate that creativity is closely linked to reflective practice, collaboration, and adaptive thinking. AI was perceived both as a supportive pedagogical tool and as a challenge: it facilitated idea generation and experimentation but required critical and purposeful use. The results highlight that the impact of AI on creativity depends on teacher agency and pedagogical intentionality.
The study contributes to understanding AI as a context-dependent pedagogical resource for fostering authentic creative processes in teacher education.© 2026 Rasa Didziuliene, Nijole Ciuciulkiene, Rita Miciuliene, Egidijus Stancikas, published by Ubiquity Press
