Perseus and the Open-Source Ecosystem of Greco-Roman Studies
By: Gregory Crane, Alison Babeu and David A. Smith
Abstract
This article provides a short overview of several key areas of digital classical scholarship where different types of open data from the Perseus Digital Library have been reused, enhanced and in some cases been reused by Perseus in turn. After providing some brief context regarding the history of and need for open data in the study of texts in classical languages it explores three areas of the reuse of Perseus data: TEI-XML texts, morphological and treebank data, and named entity data.
