Abstract

Many countries identified the importance of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) in  agriculture in terms of a shared mechanism among partners for input, resources,  markets, technology, profitability, and associated risk. In addition, many studies  revealed that the partnership approach empowered rural farmers, youth, and  women regarding accessibility to the newly invented agriculture production and  marketing technology. Nevertheless, in Sri Lanka, PPP primarily focused on construction and manufacturing. This Paper attempts to identify whether the right partners are the crucial factor in planning a PPP model for better agriculture prospects in Sri Lanka. Establishing the right PPP in research and development and agricultural marketing will enhance the growth of the agriculture sector in Sri Lanka, thereby sustainability in agriculture and the livelihood of millions of poor farm families, youngsters, and consumers.
