The Business of Collaboration: Creating a Successful Community Engagement Course in the Business School Using Alliance Theory
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to bridge the gap in the literature between theories in inter-organizational collaboration and collaboration methods in Business School community engagement courses (CECs). In order to build such a bridge, this research highlights inputs and outcomes from a successful CEC in the Business School and thus provides an actionable framework for future Business School CECs. As such, it is important for all members of the collaboration to have a voice in creating this framework. Therefore, this manuscript records perspectives from each of the three partners in a CEC: the University Partner (Professor), the Community Partner, and one of the students from the course.
