The article informs about new monograph of known Slovak specialist on English lexicology Ada Böhmerová. The book has a comparative character and it is focused on lexical amalgamation and its place in the system of English and Slovak word-formation. This word-formation process is completely characterised in the book and moreover it compare its functioning in two typologically different languages. According to the author of the review only by means of the comparative approach we can find phenomena which keep hidden in an inner linguistic study.
