The article reviews a book of Zdena Král'ová - Qualitative Approximation in the system of Slovak and English Short Vowels. The review highly estimates interdisciplinary character of the work based on knowledge of phonetics, phonology, pragmatics, psycholinguistics and neurophysiology and is aimed to the language and non-language contexts including the main problem of sound interferences. The aim of the book is to improve the acquisition of foreign language competence by a contrastive support of authentic pronunciation of the not native communicants.
