Abstract

This study deals with the questdons of word-formation motivation of composite words. While judging word-formation motivation of a particular composite, it is necessary to pay attention to the degree of motivation of components that create the composite. From the point of view of the domestic (Czech) word-formation system, we differentiate between not motivated and motivated components. These can be motivates of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree, etc. The schematic representation of word-formation motivation of composite words has got mostly a surface character, just in some cases it has got spatial character.
