Linguistic Convergence and Typological Evolution: A Report on the International Symposium on Silk Road Linguistics
Abstract
The International Symposium on Silk Road Linguistics was held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in May 2024. Hosted by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre of the Institute of Chinese Studies at CUHK and sponsored by the CUHK Research Summit Series, the two-day event featured seven invited speeches alongside 42 academic presentations addressing diverse issues in Silk Road linguistics. Bringing together researchers from eight countries – including China, Germany, Finland, France, Japan, Kazakhstan, Morocco, and the United States – the Symposium drew an audience of nearly 100 participants, fostering a robust international dialogue.
