Abstract
The prevention and management of emergencies arising from the transport of dangerous goods is one of the basic tasks of the professional disaster management authority in Hungary. The identification and documentation of the causes leading to the accident are essential elements of the development of an appropriate risk analysis methodology and the establishment of risk communication as well as the prevention of incidents involving the transport of dangerous goods. The prevention and the management of such incidents can be an extremely complex task, where the potential for reducing the time factor is highly justified. This paper presents the summary of research revealing the causes, consequences and frequency of road transport accidents involving dangerous goods in Hungary.
