Abstract

Concrete is widely used in construction due to its strength, cost-effectiveness, durability, and availability. Despite that, the concrete industry’s emissions cause significant environmental pollution and damage. This research investigates the effectiveness of nanoclay as an alternative to cement in concrete to address and mitigate environmental consequences environmentally and how it can improve building sustainability. Density, workability, compressive strength, tensile strength, water absorption, ultrasonic pulse speed, compressive factor, and thermal conductivity were examined for nanoclay replacement ratios (5%, 10%, 15%). Replacing 5% nano clay increases heat conductivity, compressive strength, and tensile strength but decreases workability. This study shows that nanoclay reduces concrete’s environmental impact and promotes sustainable building.
