Laboratory Tests and Criteria for Evaluating the Condition of Overhead Line Conductor

Abstract

Guidelines for sampling and testing the overhead lines components, dismantled from overhead lines (OHLs) in operation do not contain acceptance criteria for samples of materials neither the guidelines how to estimate life expectancy of material. This paper shows results of sample tests of conductors taken from OHLs: 110 kV Banja Luka 1 – Banja Luka 6/I, 2×110 kV HPP Jajce 1 – HPP Bočac, 2×110 kV HPP Bočac – Banja Luka 1 and OHL 2×110 kV Banja Luka 1 – Banja Luka 6/II, analysis of results according to criteria found in literature and specific author’s dilemmas as well as the conclusions regarding tests results and acceptance criteria.
