Caffeine consumption by nurses and other medical staff

Open Access
|Dec 2024

Abstract

Fatigue and sleepiness, and sometimes other symptoms, often accompany the work of nurses and representatives of other medical professions, and occur especially in those medical professionals who work long shifts, primarily at night. The caffeine they consume, mainly in the form of coffee, reduces the adverse symptoms of fatigue and sleepiness and improves psychomotor skills in general, but long-term caffeine intake, especially in large doses, can cause various adverse health effects.
