Psychoactive Substances and Selected Health Problems Related to Their Use
Abstract
Psychoactive substances are various types of substances that act on human organs and systems, in particular the central nervous system. They may be the cause of various mental and physical symptoms. Taking psychoactive substances carries the risk of negative effects on the entire body, including the risk of disorders in physical and emotional development. Psychoactive substances, such as alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs, disturb the functioning of the senses, memory, thinking, motor coordination, and disrupt the development of the entire body. Taking psychoactive substances may result in physical and/or psychological addiction.
