Abstract

Among the hero doctors who stood in all, often perilous, positions during World War II, there were no shortage of brave women. One of them was Professor Dr. Janina Misiewicz (1893–1958), a phthisiologist, who conducted incredibly courageous actions at Warsaw’s Wola Hospital in the crucial moments of 1939 and 1944. The 130th anniversary of this outstanding doctor’s birth is an excellent opportunity to tell their story.
