Library Videos: Addressing Student Needs Through Instructional Videos at a Community College Library
Abstract
The Howard Community College Library demonstrated our commitment to learners through the creation of videos. We were guided by the following values: acknowledging learning styles, respecting diversity, and committing to quality control. We wanted to create videos that were appealing, engaging, and succinct. Our videos were useful in correcting known technical problems, marketing library resources, enhancing reference chat service, and supporting library instruction. We used YouTube Analytics to analyze statistics. Our efforts led to creative, innovative videos that leveled the playing field for online students and others.
