The Slovak Journal of Civil Engineering (SJCE) was established at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FCE) in 1993 and has been publishing one volume per year since its launch. The journal is owned by the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (SUT), while editorial responsibility rests with the FCE SUT. It appears quarterly with a steady run of issues typically in March, June, September, and December, underscoring the journal’s continuous, regular publication since inception. Digital hosting began in the early 2010s; the journal was hosted on the Versita platform. After Versita was acquired by De Gruyter (2012), the service operated as De Gruyter Open and, from 2018, as Sciendo, De Gruyter’s brand/division focused on publishing and distribution services for third parties (societies, universities, conference organisers, and independent journals/books). The journal remained with Sciendo until September 2025; from October 2025, the online hosting and services have been provided by Paradigm Publishing Services, into which the Sciendo team has been integrated, as part of the De Gruyter Brill group. The SJCE is a diamond open-access journal that does not charge article processing fees. The journal is listed with ISSN 1210-3896 (print) and e-ISSN 1338-3973; earlier articles commonly use 10.1515 (De Gruyter Open) DOI prefixes, while more recent content uses 10.2478 (Sciendo). In terms of licensing, the journal used CC BY-NC-ND up to Vol. 30(3) in 2022 and adopted CC BY 4.0 from Vol. 30(4) onwards, thereby ensuring that the authors retain ownership of their copyright. The journal is indexed in Web of Science and DOAJ (among others), which demonstrates its commitment to maintaining high publishing standards. |
