Aims and scope

Prace i Studia Geograficzne” (Studies in Geography) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies of the University of Warsaw since 1979. The aim of the journal is to identify and interpret the main research problems in socio-economic geography, spatial management, and physical geography, to initiate scientific discourse in these disciplines and in related ones, as well as to shape the face and role of modern geography as a bridge between different fields of knowledge.

We therefore publish articles in the field of:

  • Socio-economic geography and spatial management,
  • Earth and Environmental Sciences,
  • Sociological Sciences,
  • Architecture and Urban Planning,
  • History,
  • Economics and finance,
  • Cultural and religious sciences,
  • Political science and administration.

In particular, we publish papers on socio-economic geography, spatial economy, physical geography, regional studies, urban geography, urban sociology, historical and political geography, and cultural geography.
Research published in the journal covers, both in terms of content and methodology, issues from the following pool: population and settlement, social processes and conflicts, demographic structures, trade and services, digital economy, transportation and mobility, living conditions and quality of life, urbanization and suburbanization, local government, regional policy, housing economy and policy, migration, leisure and tourism, space perception and preference studies, public space, cultural heritage, methodology of geographic sciences, GIS, sustainable development, landscape ecology, natural determinants of human activity, environmental protection, changes in natural systems, land use as a landscape-forming factor, functions of natural areas, geomorphological, hydrological and climatological issues.
