Ethical Obligations and Confidentiality

Reviewers for Mineralogia are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity. All manuscripts must be treated as strictly confidential. Reviewers must not disclose any information about the submission or share its content with third parties without explicit permission from the editorial office. Information or ideas obtained through peer review must not be used for personal or professional advantage before the work is published.

Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure

Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest to the Handling Editor before accepting an invitation. A formal COI statement must be provided prior to returning review feedback.

Reviewers should decline an invitation if:

  • They have a current or recent (within 36 months) collaboration with any of the authors.
  • They are employed at the same institution as the authors.
  • They have a personal or financial stake in the research outcome.
  • They have past relationships (e.g., PhD supervision) that could be reasonably perceived as influencing their judgment, regardless of the timeframe.

Prohibition of Generative AI

In alignment with Paradigm and COPE standards, the use of Generative AI (genAI) tools in the peer-review process is strictly prohibited. Reviews must be written solely by the assigned human reviewer to ensure accountability, accuracy, and data security. Manuscripts under review must never be uploaded to public AI platforms, as this violates confidentiality and intellectual property rights.

Review Process and Feedback

Mineralogia utilizes a single-blind peer-review process. Reviewers provide their evaluation through:

  • General comments and constructive feedback for the authors.
  • A specific questionnaire provided within the Editorial Manager® system.
  • Optional annotated PDF files with suggested corrections.

Standard Review Timelines

To ensure timely communication of research, reviewers are asked to adhere to the following standard timelines:

30 days for Original Research and Review Papers.

14 days for Letters and Short Notes.
