Publication history

Forestry Studies | Metsanduslikud Uurimused was founded in 1939 and is one of the longest-established scientific journals in the field of forestry in the Baltic region. Since its establishment, the journal has provided a platform for peer-reviewed research in forestry and related environmental sciences.

Over the decades, the journal has evolved from a primarily regional publication into an international scholarly journal, attracting contributions, reviewers, and editorial board members from different countries.

The journal was published in both print and electronic formats until 2023. Since 2024, Forestry Studies | Metsanduslikud Uurimused has been published exclusively in electronic format, with two issues released annually.

The journal operates under a full Open Access publishing model. All articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication without subscription barriers, access restrictions or embargoes.

The journal has expanded its international visibility through inclusion in major abstracting and indexing databases. Since 2011, it has been indexed in Scopus and is currently covered by international bibliographic and citation databases, including Scopus, Web of Science: Zoological Record, DOAJ, AGRICOLA, CABI, Dimensions, EBSCO, ProQuest, and others. The journal is also registered with Crossref, providing persistent digital object identifiers (DOIs) for its published articles.
