New Faculty Academy (NFA): A Perspective in Leveraging Partnerships

Abstract

Our institutional new faculty professional development program developed as a partnership between the office of the Provost and the University Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Team. This collaboration leverages librarians’ expertise as neutral campus partners, cross-disciplinary educators, and facilitators of transferable professional skills, with support and resources from campus administration.

This paper discusses iterations of the program, from the initial offering organized around familiar topics—writing, grants, and institutional support—to following the research lifecycle to better align with faculty research timelines. The changes in this model demonstrate the importance of adaptable, cross-campus partnerships and highlights librarians’ role in advancing faculty development.
