Streaming attendance of on-campus lectures and student outcomes: a correlational study

This study explores the relationship between streaming attendance and student academic performance in higher education. Drawing on data from two Management Engineering courses at a large Italian university, it combines administrative records, Webex usage logs, and student surveys to examine motivations, attendance behaviors, and outcomes. Findings indicate that while live streaming is widely used and offers flexibility, it does not negatively impact grades or exam pass rates. Instead, prior academic performance and engagement – regardless of modality – are the strongest predictors of success. These results suggest that hybrid models incorporating streaming could be adopted without detriment on the cognitive sphere
