Abstract

The Erasmus+ KA2 project “Improving VET distance learning through a Gamified Asynchronous eLearning Methodology” (d-ICT) addresses the evolving needs of Vocational Education and Training (VET) educators in the digital era by integrating assessment tools and micro-credentialing mechanisms into distance learning. With the shift towards online education, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, VET educators faced significant challenges in engaging learners, evaluating competencies, and ensuring the credibility of remote training programs. This project developed an innovative, gamified, and asynchronous e-learning approach, equipping educators with structured methodologies for assessment and digital credentialing. Through research conducted across seven European countries, the project identified key gaps in digital competencies and designed a comprehensive e-Toolkit featuring assessment strategies, interactive learning techniques, and a micro-credentialing framework based on ECVET points. The findings highlight the effectiveness of game-based learning, peer review assessments, and digital tools in fostering engagement and validating competencies. By enhancing the professional recognition and mobility of VET educators, the d-ICT project contributes to a more structured, inclusive, and competency-based approach to distance learning and digital education.
