The lecture discusses State obligations on climate change and human rights in the light of the evidence about a logic of sacrifice underpinning fossil fuel-based economies. It reflects on how advancing a defossilization of our economies as a human rights imperative can support a transformation of this logic of sacrifice into a logic of care underpinning our economies and societies, as the most effective and human rights-based approach towards a safer climate for present and future generations.
