Abstract
This paper presents a FreeCAD workbench plugin that connects the open-source CAD (computer-aided design) software FreeCAD with NVIDIA Omniverse, enabling direct read and write access to CAD geometry on a remote Nucleus server. Omniverse is a collaborative platform for 3D graphics and simulation, originally developed by NVIDIA for the media and entertainment industry. At its core is Nucleus, a centralised server that manages storage, synchronisation, and communication between applications. The connector facilitates interoperability between FreeCAD and other Omniverse-supported tools. It also demonstrates a broader approach to integrating OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description) into open-source CAD workflows, supporting more modular and collaborative design pipelines.
