Abstract

This paper describes a dataset that mobilizes Wikidata and Research Organization Registry (ROR) persistent identifiers as a means to connect disparate institutional data across four major residential programs in art history and visual arts in the United States. The collected data offer a standard and reproducible way for siloed institutions to aggregate their statistics and present a more comprehensive view of the evolving funding landscape for humanities research. Wikidata items were created or enhanced to represent 943 institutions and 147 cities of residence for 3,877 awards. The research institutions (Clark, GRI, SAAM, and The Center) contributed from available systems and expertise, exporting from systems of record or extracting from print and digital publications. The dataset can be downloaded as two tables from GitHub, which can be joined by Wikidata identifiers.
