Abstract

This paper presents experimental research on integrating the data and vocabularies of the Linked Ancient Greek and Latin (LAGL) project with Wikidata. It focuses on the LAGL Catalog of Authors and Works, which collects linguistic annotations of bibliographic references found in ancient sources. The Wikidata LAGL Author ID Property stores CTS URNs of LAGL authors in Wikidata, enabling the visualization of contextual linguistic annotations. The paper examines the opportunities and challenges involved in converting linguistic data into Wikidata statements to create structured representations of ancient Greek and Latin literature. Particular attention is given to assertions from ancient sources regarding the geographic associations and intellectual activities of Classical authors.
