A Geospatial Archaeological Dataset of Megalithic Cemetery and Habitation Sites in the Adwa River Valley, Vindhyan Plateau, India
Abstract
The dataset presents a systematic, monument-level geospatial record of megalithic cemetery and habitation sites in the Adwa River Valley, Vindhyan Plateau, India. Compiled during the first author’s doctoral research (2021–2026), it includes 41 cemetery sites comprising 493 megalithic monuments and 13 habitation sites, documented through systematic archaeological survey and GIS analysis. The dataset records geographic coordinates, monument typology, physical attributes, preservation status, habitation characteristics, and geospatial information. It is provided in Microsoft Excel, KML, and JPEG maps, figures, and graphs, enabling visualisation and spatial analysis of the archaeological landscape. This standardised and openly reusable dataset provides a valuable resource for comparative archaeological research, landscape archaeology, GIS-based spatial analysis, heritage management, and long-term monitoring of megalithic sites in the Adwa River Valley and comparable landscapes.
