බෞද්ධ ආචාරධර්මයන්හි ස්වභාවය පිළිබඳ විමර්ශනාත්මක අධ්‍යයනයක් [An Investigative Study of the Nature of Buddhist Ethics]

When it comes to Buddhist Philosophy, it has several branches such as epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, logic etc. Among them, ethics can be introduced as a major branch. The ethics taught by the Buddha related to morality is the Buddhist ethics. The role of Buddhist ethics is objective as well as practical because the Buddha's teaching is directly connected with reality. However, there have emerged many debates about Buddhist ethics in the academic world in comparison to western theories of ethics. This article mainly focuses on investigating the nature of Buddhist ethics depending on early Buddhism under three sub-themes; the structure of Buddhist ethics, the foundation of Buddhist ethics, and Buddhist moral standards. Accordingly, this article expects to make comprehensive commentary on Buddhist ethics by using the research of scholars who have done research on the Buddhist ethics and comparatively discuss with western ethical theory.
