Abstract

Whether people use artificial intelligence (AI) does not depend solely on its technical capabilities. The decisive factor is how AI is embedded within social and institutional contexts. Transparent interests, effective means of control and clear accountability for data and outcomes shape cooperation, trust and responsible use. The aim of successful AI adoption should therefore not be maximum acceptance, but rather competent and legitimate use of AI.
