Künstliche Intelligenz: Wie gelingt die Transformation?
Abstract
Artificial intelligence has the potential to become a driving force for productivity and growth in the German economy. However, Germany lags significantly behind the US in terms of AI investment and application. What challenges lie ahead for the AI transformation? What measures can be taken to ensure its success? This Zeitgespräch sheds light on the role of the state in strengthening AI research and innovation, as well as their translation into value creation. To ensure that AI applications are integrated sustainably into businesses and public administration, their deployment should be understood as a matter of organisational design and incentivising human resources management. A key infrastructural prerequisite is the establishment of data centres. The contributions discuss what institutional incentives can be put in place to achieve this and examine the distributional effects resulting from the increased importance of scarce locations.
