Gegenwart und Zukunft der ökonomischen Bildung in Deutschland
Abstract
Economic education is a key competence. Its aim and objective is to empower individuals to make informed economic decisions, understand economic interrelationships, and play a responsible role in shaping social structures. What is the state of this type of education in Germany? What needs to change? This discussion addresses these questions from various perspectives: the contributions analyse financial literacy and retirement planning, the influence of financial socialisation within the family, the potential and shortcomings of economics education in schools, and the further development of economic education at the university level. It becomes clear that economic education extends far beyond financial literacy—after all, the economy influences virtually every aspect of individual and societal life. Furthermore, successful economic education requires a systematic approach that spans all stages of life—something currently lacking in Germany.
