Abstract
The German economy is in a deep crisis. The causes lie partly in the current foreign policy environment, but they are also home-grown. These structural problems need to be addressed. Instead of taking short-term measures, transformative policies must be implemented. However, the possibilities for generating more growth through fiscal and monetary policy are limited. A return to growth requires investment in infrastructure, education and research, as well as relief from taxes and social security contributions. How a return to growth can be achieved is the topic of this Zeitgespräch.
