Abstract
The federal government has presented a draft law to legalise the controlled use of cannabis, known as the Cannabis Act (CanG). What does this law regulate and how is it expected to affect cannabis use? Is there empirical evidence to support the expectations? What will determine whether the objectives of the law can be achieved or not? This article describes the main provisions of the Cannabis Act and the criticism of it and also examines the possible consequences of this law with a view to the empirical literature.
