Abstract
With the current draft budget 2024 by the Federal Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner, and the planned cuts in the area of family, a heated debate has flared up about which family policy measures make sense, how they work and what alternatives exist. The good news is that family policy is now finally receiving increased attention. But the question arises as to how a sustainable family policy should be sensibly designed. Family policy should not be viewed in isolation, but in interaction with education, economic and labour market policy.
