Abstract
The article summarizes the know-how relating to the impactof lead on the quality of the hot-dip galvanizing processand the applied coat. The discussion focuses namely on the surfacetension and wettability of the melt, mechanical propertiesand roughness of the coat, embrittlement of the base materialby liquid metal, the impact on formation of superfi cial defectsand subsequent surface treatment techniques.
