Abstract
Contemporary finite-strain plasticity models based on a multiplicative split of the deformation gradient exhibit fundamental inconsistencies, such as incorrect intermediate configurations, violations of mass conservation, a predefined deformation order, and erroneous stress evaluation. We propose an alternative Mooney– Rivlin model employing an additive split of the strain-rate tensor. A numerical example demonstrates its consistency and suitability for a universal finite elastoplastic framework.
