Justification of the Design of Wheeled Harvesters for Timber Harvesting on Slopes

Open Access

Abstract

This article addresses issues related to the stability of harvesters against overturning during timber harvesting on slopes. The objective of the research is to provide a theoretical foundation for the maximum slope angle at which a harvester can operate. The most common harvester design configurations are examined. The position of the machine’s center of mass is justified. Mathematical relationships are presented, enabling the assessment of harvester stability during the machine design stage. Recommendations for improving the machine’s design and operation are provided.
